Syamanthaka Upakhyanam – Srimad Narayaneeyam / Srimad Bhagavatham !! Lyrics & Its meanings

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Oh! Bhagavan, you have desirously requested the divine precious jewel ‘Syamanthakam’ to King Sathrajith.  I presume that there must be several reasons behind this idea, but it was certain that you wanted to marry his daughter who was in love with you.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, The narrow minded Sathrajith did not want to give you the divine jewel Symanthaka.  Prasena, brother of Sathrajith wore the precious jewel around his neck and went for a hunting expedition.  The brilliance of jewel was mistaken as a lump of flesh by a lion and killed him on the spot.  Shortly, great monkey Jambavan killed the lion and secured the Syamanthaka and gave it to his child to play.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, The people were followed the predictions of Sathrajith and suspected you as jewel thief, even the least suspicion about a virtuous is enough for the people to imbibe on it.  Although you were aware about the situation of the precious jewel, went on a search with your men.  Eventually, you have witnessed the lifeless body of Prasena and the lion on the mouth of the cave of great monkey.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Oh! Hare, Victory to you! Jambavan could not identify you due to his old age, instead he shrieked at you that who has come to create obstruction to the refuge of Lord Mukundha.    Oh ! Mukundha, Oh! Vibho Raghupathey, Victory to you! Saying so, Jambavan/Bakthachoodamani who is the crown of passionate devotees, continuously venerated you with the blow of his fists.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Ultimately Jambavan recognized your real form.  He has given you the precious jewel and his younger daughter’s hand.  You have graciously accepted the both and blessed him, immediately returned to the city and gave back the precious jewel Syamanthakam to Sathrajith.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Sathrajith felt ashamed of his act and offered his daughter Sathyabhama who has lovely eyes along with the precious jewel Syamanthakam to you made extremely happy, after a deep thought you have returned the precious jewel to Sathrajith, because you have already got what was immensely worth for you.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, You were extremely happy in the association of timid Sathyabhama.  In the meantime, you have received the awful news of Kunthi’s sons were burnt in the wax palace, eventually proceeded to the land of Kurus.  How terrible it was! Shathadhanu was impelled by the words of Akroora and Krithavarma, eventually he killed Sathrajith and took away the precious jewel Syamanthakam.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Your wife Sathyabhama has overcome with extreme grief, approached you on the land of Kurus.  You have killed Shathadhanu and appeased her, but the suspicious about the missing of the precious jewel remained.   Balarama arrived at the Kingdom of Mithila and taught the art of wielding the mace to Duryodhana very well.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Oh! Bhagavan, The death of notorious Sathrajith was caused at your will, you did not take back the precious jewel from Akroora, and instead you have blessed him with eternal prosperity.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Oh! Esha, how it would be possible for Akroora, a zealous devotee of you to have an evil though in his mind, although he was enriched with the eternal wisdom and self control?  It must be to control the pride of him.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Akroora ran away in fear with Krithavarma, you have brought them back along with the hidden precious jewel Syamanthakam.   You have ordered Akroora who had intense devoutness to retain the jewel and satisfied him.  Shortly, you have happily reclined on the bosom of Sathyabhama.   Oh! Pavanesha, we earnestly pray to protect us.
