Birth of Upasloka/Upaslokolpathi & Battle with Jarasandha – Srimad Narayaneeyam / Srimad Bhagavatham !! Lyrics & Its meanings

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, you have dressed in a most attractive attire and went with Uddhava to visit the house of Sairandhri who was tormented by the cupid arrow of Lord Manmatha, she was completely wrapped up in your thought, kept herself stunningly dressed and the house decorated at all times.  She was yearning for your arrival and was in anticipation to meet you.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Sairandhri was in a state of ecstasy at your arrival, her bosoms were quivering in intense excitement and joy.   She received you with all the honors and various offerings were made to you.  Eventually, you have provided her extreme happiness in your association.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, when Sairandhri was asked by you for a boon, the pitiable woman requested for the pleasure with you in the dark hours.  The enlightened ones will ask for the union/Sayujyam with you or Sameepyam/nearness with you.  How come she did not ask for it?

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Oh! Deva, subsequently you have provided immense pleasure to the doe-eyed Sairandhri in another few nights.  In due course of time, Sairandhri attained a son Upasloka who achieved extensive knowledge in Saththvath Thanthra from Maharishi Narada and became prominent in the subject.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, You have arrived in the house of Akroora, along with Balarama and Uddhava was received with great honors and Akroora praised you in intense delight.   You have appointed Akroora to gather the news of well-being of Pandava who had returned from the woods and the scheme of Dhrutharashtra.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Jarasandha was besieged with extreme wrath at the death of his close associate as well as his son in law Kamsa, King of Bhoja.  You have encountered Jarasandha and his 23 Akshouhini Sena with a few warriors from heaven and Balarama.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Jarasandha was forcefully tied up by Balarama was released by you with an intention to bring him back in the battle field.  There was no one powerful than Jarasandha, he conquered the Kings of all directions and accumulated the power of his army.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Oh! Vishno, Jarasandha who was prompted by the associate Kings entered in the battle against you, each time he had returned from the battle field completely dejected.  In this way, he returned from the battle field crest fallen for 16 times, Shiva! Shiva, What a wonder! Finally you have destroyed 391 Akshouhini sena of Jarasandha.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, The eighteenth battle with Jarasandha was fierce, led by King Yavana and 3 crores of Yavanas.  Soon Vishwakarma built a city in the middle of the vast ocean and you have reallocated your people into that city with yogic powers.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, You have adorned with flower garland and ran out of the city in extreme fright was followed by the Yavana King who has no meritorious deed was eventually led to the mouth of a cave where Emperor Muchukundha was asleep.  Yavana King mistook Muchukundha as you and kicked him forcefully with his foot was reduced into ashes by the wrathful eyes of the Sage Muchukundha.  Soon, you have revealed your marvelous form to the Sage.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Sage Muchukundha spoke “ Oh! Deva, I am from the Ikshuvaku Dynasty, I am dispassionate towards the pleasures of Kingdom, I am desirous of your grace.” He sung praising the glories of you; he was desirous less of any boons which made you extremely happy.  You have blessed him with intense devotion, which was equal to liberation that washes off all the sins.  You have advised the Sage to undergo penance for the welfare of the Universe and purify the deeds that caused pain to others during his regime.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, You have vanquished the army of King Yavana, when they created impediments on your way.  Finally, you have provided victory to him and raised his pride, before leaving to the City of Dwaraka/Jaladhi Nagari.  Oh! Vathalayesha, we earnestly pray to protect us.
