The legend of Prahladha & Narasimha Avatharam – Srimad Narayaneeyam / Srimad Bhagavatham !! Lyrics & Its meanings

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Hiranyakashipu heard a deafening noise as he was hammering the pillars.  Oh! Lord Hari, your roar was so ferocious which made the entire thing in the Universe to quiver.  Hiranyakashipu was never heard of such an atrocious noise before, after listening to the vicious roar it made an implausible tremor in him.  This boisterous growl of you made even lotus born Lord Brahma/Ambojabu: move from his throne.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, you have personified as a half lion and half human from one of the pillars, Hiranyakashipu was puzzled and looked around in extreme terror, as he was witnessing in great wonder you have expanded your marvelous body on which white hairs were standing erect.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Oh! Supreme Lord Victory to you, you have assumed a fierce form, your brutal eyes were like molten gold, quivering mane were standing straight, huge mouth was wide open like a cave and sword like tongue was sprawled out revealing huge pairs of sharp protruding teeth on it.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, My salutation to Lord Narasimha, divine incarnation of you as half lion and half man, it has short neck, crease of skin on the chin positioned upward while roaring, hundreds of powerful arms with  lustrous and sharp finger nails on it.  Your terrific roar echoed in the sky that was capable to drive out your opponents in terror.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, The demon King Hiranyakashipu hurried towards you with a mace whirling around, proclaiming that he would kill you.  He was caught hold by your powerful arms, but slipped out of your hands and grabbed his powerful sword.  Oh! Vibho, Hiranyakashipu displayed his skills on swordfight and rushed to you, while you were prepared to swallow the entire Universe.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa,  The demon Hiranyaksha was circling around was caught hold by you abruptly, you have settled on an entrance way and put him on your lap, eventually your sharp nails were torn open his chest.  You have consumed the blood oozed out of his chest at your heart’s content, roaring boisterously that was powerful to blow apart the entire Universe.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, You have quickly raised from the seat in your gigantic form completely bathed in blood, leaving behind the dead Hiranyakashipu, started to devour the group of demons assembled.  Oh! Vibho, the entire Universe was in an unbearable state commotion, oceans were in mayhem, and mountains were quivered, stars and the planets, living and non-living things were scattered all over.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, You were in an extreme wrath, took a seat in the assembly with a fierce roar, your marvelous body was smeared with blood and flesh, decked with the garland made of intestine of Hiranyakashipu.  No one was dared to approach you, even Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma, Lord Indra and the deities stood far away from you, and they eulogized the glories of you in order to pacify you.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, You were in a state of uncontrollable rage.  Little Prahlada prostrated before your lotus feet at the advice of Lord Brahma, Oh! Vibho you were appeased by Prahlada, instantly you have overcome with an extreme compassion and placed your hands on Little Prahlada’s head.  Prahlada’s devotion towards you streamed out in the form of sacred hymns in praise of you; eventually he received a boon for the welfare of the Universe, although it was not requested by him.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, In this way you have well played a drama of fierceness.  Oh! Vibho, the sacred hymns in the scripture Shrithapaneeya describes your splendor as absolute pure.  Oh! Supreme Lord, who can triumph over you? Oh! Prahladapriya, who is beloved of Prahlada, Oh! Maruthpurapathey, I earnestly pray to cure all our illnesses.
