Kovil/Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple is one of the Abhimana Kshetram of Lord Vishnu as Narasimha located in Chennai. This is
one of the oldest temples of Lord Narasimha built atop the red hill (Padala –
red, Adhri – hill) by the King Mahendra Varman of Pallava Dynasty. In this temple Lord Narasimha can be seen in
his fierce form, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

The legend has
that Sage Jabali underwent severe penance praying to Lord Vishnu to visualize
his fierce form as Lord Narasimha. Lord
was pleased at the devotion of Sage Jabali and revealed his ferocious
form.
This temple
remains open from 6.30 AM to 12.30 PM in the morning and 4.30 PM to 8.30PM in
the evenings.
