The legend has that King of Serpents who had significant place in the Life of Lord Shiva and  was decked by Lord all over his body turned out over proud.   Once Lord Ganesha was paying obeisance to his father Lord Shiva at Mount Kailash, the King of Serpents misconstrued that the honor was meant for him.  Lord Shiva got annoyed at the pride of the King of Serpents and cursed him.     Instantaneously he lost all the powers due to the curse of Lord Shiva.   Hence, He came down to Earth at the divine instruction of Lord and worshipped Lord Shiva at Thirupampuram for forgiveness.

The worship of Lord Seshapureeswarar with his consort Goddess Sri Bramarambikai eradicates sins and fulfills all the desires with Salvation.
