Thiru Van Purshothamam is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu located in Thirunangur, Nagapattinam District, Tamil Nadu.



Presiding deity – Sri Purushothaman with his consort Goddess Sri Purushothama Nayaki/Periya Piratti



Theertham – Thiruparkadal Theertham



Vimanam – Sanjeevani Vimanam


Sthalavruksham – Jack fruit tree/Plantain



Significance – Thiru Manavala Mamunigal served Lord Purushothama in this sacred temple.



Sannidhis – Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Sita & Anjaneya, Lord Anjaneya, Sri Andal, Alwars, Nammalvar, Sri Ramanujar, Senaimudaliyar,


Mangalasasanam – Thirumangai Alwar

Prathyaksham to – Sage Upamanyu, Ekadasha Rudra



The legend has that Rishi Vyagrapadha arrived on this sacred land with his child Upamanyu.   Rishi was s0 engrossed in collecting flowers for offering to Lord Purushothama from the temple garden leaving behind the child.     Soon, the child started to weep loudly due to hunger.  The compassionate Lord Purushothama created an ocean of milk for the child and instructed Goddess Periya Nayaki to feed the hungry child Upamanyu. 





This temple remains open from 6.00AM to 11.30 AM in the morning and 4.00PM to 8.00PM in the evenings.
