Thirumancheri is one of 275 Thevara Shivasthalam
of Lord Shiva located in Mayavaram, Nagapattinam District, Tamil Nadu.
This is one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiva
built during the period of Chola Dynasty, also known as Nithya Kalyana
Kshetram. Lord Shiva married to Goddess
Parvati on this sacred land, hence the marriage rituals (Nithya Kalyanam) are
performed to presiding deities on daily basis.

Worshipped by – Lord Kamadeva worshipped Lord

Rudravaneswarar with his consort, Sage Baradwaja, idols of Sembianmadevi and
Mallappa Naicker.
The legend has that Goddess
Parvati turned out a cow at the curse of Lord Shiva. She came down to the Earth
and worshipped Lord Shiva by pouring out her milk on a Linga. Lord Shiva was
pleased at the devotion of Goddess Parvati and married to her at Thirumancheri
which is close to Thiruvelvikudi. Consequently, all the marriage rites were
performed on the sacred land of Thiruvelvikudi and the celestial marriage of
Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati took place in Thirumancheri.
Worship of Sri Udvanganathar with his consort
Goddess Sri Kokilambal brings blissful married life. This is also one of the renowned worship places to remove
the delay in marriages.
This temple remains open from 6.00AM to 12.00PM
in the morning and 4.00PM to 8.00PM in the evenings.
