There were a few interesting myths associated
with this temple. Goddess Durga led a fierce
battle against the demon Doomralochana. The Saptha Kanyakas who were
assigned by Lord Shiva followed Goddess Durga to the battlefield in order to
assist her in the vicious battle. Doomralochana
was unable to withstand the fight against Goddess Durga, he ran off from the
battlefield. The Saptha Kanyakas were closely
followed Doomralochana, quickly he disappeared into the hermitage of Sage
Karthyayana. Sapthya Kanyakas mistook
that the demon Doomralocha has disguised in the form of Sage and killed him
instantly. Soon, the Sapthakanyakas were
inflicted with the sin of Brahmahathya.
They worshipped Lord in several temples and finally got rid of the sin
in this sacred temple.
Lord Brahma worshipped Lord Shiva in this sacred
land for several thousand years following severe austerities and got dharshan
of Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati. Lord
Subramanya worshipped Lord Shiva to get rid of Brahmahathya sin after the
fierce battle with the demon Shoorapadman.
This temple remains open from 6.00AM to 1.00PM
