Jai Sriman Narayana !!
In due course of time,
Devaki gave birth to a child in the prison. Kamsa was very confident that
Vasudeva never break his promises. Vasudeva carried the child and
produced before Kamsa. Kamsa felt happy at the truthfulness of Vasudeva.
Kamsa returned the child to Vasudeva, as it was the first child not going to
make any threat for him. Vasudeva invited Brahmins and performed the
naming ceremony of the child. But, he was well aware of the wickedness of
Kamsa that may put an end to their happiness.
Maharishi
Narada paid a visit to Kamsa and revealed the proposed command of Lord Vishnu
in order to protect the inhabitants of Gokula - Yadavas and to annihilate the
demons from the Earth. It increased the fear in him, ordered put Devaki
and Vasudeva under heavy chains. He snatched away the first child from
them and killed mercilessly. His hatred towards Yadavas had no bounds; he
even imprisoned his own father Ugrasena and started harassing the Yadavas
more than ever before.
Devaki
gave birth to six children; unfortunately all the children were killed by Kamsa
mercilessly. When Devaki conceived the seventh child and it was the
Nithyasuri – Adhishesha who was in the womb of Devaki. Lord Vishnu
instructed Yogamaya to go to Gokula where Rohini – second wife of Vasudeva
resides. As per the instruction of Lord, Yogamaya arrived in Gokula and
extracted the child from the womb of Devaki and placed it safely on the
Rohini’s womb, thus Lord Balarama got the sacred name
‘Sankharshana’. Lord Vishnu also taught Yogamaya that He will be born as
the Eighth child of Devaki and Vasudeva. Yogamaya would take birth as
daughter to Nanda and Yasodha.
