Once upon a time Mother Earth was burdened with innumerable demons
and their harassments. Lord Brahma and deities approached Lord Sriman
Narayana and narrated the pathetic conditions of Mother Earth. The
compassionate Lord Vishnu promised the deities and Rishis that soon He will get
rid of the demons and save the Mother Earth. Lord Sriman Narayana
declared that He would take birth on the Earth as the son of Devaki and
Vasudeva in the Yadu/Yadhava clan. He instructed the deities to
follow his promise and assist Him on his mission to save Mother Earth from her
sufferings.
