Trinity of Dakshina Bajana Sambradaya !! Jagadguru Sri Bodhendra Swamigal !! Part II !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!
Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara !!

Sri Kesava Pandurangan and Smt. Sugunambal showed their utmost gratitude towards their Acharya by presenting one and only son Purushothaman  to Mutt to carry out the noble service to mankind.

Purushothaman continued to live under the shade and grace of His Acharya Sri Vishwadhikendra Saraswathy Swamigal.  His Acharya appointed well trained Sanskrit Scholars of Veda and Sastras to teach Purshothaman.  Purushothaman was the most diligent student and  was brilliant in his studies, he completed his studies at the age of 18 and had profound knowledge in Vedas, Sastras, Puranas etc …  The only subject he left out to study was Brahmavidya.  Purushothaman had the confidence that he would attain that too from his Guru as it was promised by him earlier.

While His Guru was on his spiritual tour to Varanasi, Purushothaman received an instruction to follow him.  Purushothaman had chosen his childhood friend Gnanasagaran to accompany him.   The two intimate friends started their journey to Kashi by walk.    Gnanasagaran was proficient in Astrology and had the intuition that he could not make his trip up to Kashi.  On the way, Gnansagaran revealed his worries to Purushothaman and felt sorry for his helplessness to escort him.  The two of them consoled and promised each other by saying that if anything happen to any one of them, the other person would perform the last rites and sacrifice his life in the holy river Ganga.  In that way, they could remain friends forever even after their death.

Unfortunately, it was Gnanasagarn who could not make up the journey to Kashi.  On half way to Kashi, Gnanasagarn became ill and passed away.  Purushothaman performed last rites for his friend and continued his journey.  Deepily hurt and isolated by the separation of his friend Purushothaman continued his journey to Kashi.

Will be continued.........

Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!
