The Great Epic Mahabharath – Lord Krishna's Grace on Draupadi !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

The Great Epic Mahabharath - Sabha Parva describes Lord Krishna's Grace on Draupadi.

Pandavas arrived at Hastinapur at the invitation of Kaurava.  After paying due respect to elders they were offered with seats.  Later, they were encouraged to play dice by Sakuni, Duryodhana and Dusshasana .   That was just the beginning of misfortune of Pandavas.   The righteous King Yudhishtira tried to discourage them by convincing that the dice game is a sin and  no morality in it.  Sakuni tactfully with his impressive remarks challenged Yudhishtira.     The elders in the assembly were Dhritarashtra (Who was not only blind by sight but also blind by heart.  And Always wished for the victory of his own sons though they were unscrupulous),  Bhishma Pitamaha, Drona, Kripa and many of them where assembled in the hall had nothing to say other than sadly witnessing the scene.  King Yudhistira begun to play the game, Sakuni sequentially made cunning moves against Pandavas.   Pandavas began to pledge their valuable ornaments first.    He continuously fallen prey of Sakuni,  Yudhistira had to  pledge his treasuries, His attendants, His Kingdom, His brothers and finally, their wife Draupadi.    The crooked brothers Duryodhana and Dusshasana were enjoying the victory over Pandavas.  Sakuni continued to be devious   throughout the game. The end result was Pandavas lost everything in their game.  Kauravas victory became the cause for Pandava’s exile from their Kingdom.

Duryodhana was enjoying the timely victory over Pandavas and instructed his men to bring Draupadi in the middle of the assembly hall with an intention to insult her publicly.  As an intention to take revenge on her.  Vidura was always been a good advisor to Dritarashtra, he advised the blind man to put an end to the all the senseless acts of his sons.  Helpless Dritarashtra’s advices fallen on the deaf ears.  Duryodhana insisted his brother Dusshasana to bring her in the middle of the Assembly Hall.    Dusshasana approached Draupadi violently and dragged her holding her hair.  He bashed her with his foul language.  Draupadi was defenseless, terribly shocked, she wept in guilt and shame.  She helplessly looked around for help, unfortunately the respective elders and at the mighty warriors of Indraprastha – Her husbands were utterly weak  .  None of them had the courage to answer her questions openly asked in the assembly.  They understood that none of the questions of Draupadi were answerable and what was happening there was completely wrong.  All the elders were silently witnessed with their heads hung down with shame.   She continued to weep over and over at the injustice towards her.

Karna was overjoyed at the victory of Kouravas.  He was very intimate with Kauravas and was always been looking for a chance to degrade Pandavas.  He instructed Dusshasana that to demand the Pandava’s to leave their royal attire before they leave to forest.  Immediately the five brothers removed their royal attire and left it on the ground.  Dusshasana aggressively approached Draupadi and started to strip her clothes as well.  The whole assembly shocked at this sight,   Draupadi closed her hands on chest and cried loudly ‘ Govinda, Madhava, Janadharana, Krishna, Vasudeva…’.  Dusshasana was belligerently pulling her clothes.

At this moment Lord Krishna was having pastime with Sri Rukmini in Dwaraka.  After witnessing the entire heartbreaking state of Draupadi, Lord Krishna was keeping silent.  On this Sri Rukmini enquired; ‘Lord ! You are the knower of All, Draupadi needs your help.  Why you are   unwilling to help Draupadi at this distressing moment’.  Lord Krishna replied to Sri Rukmini:  ‘Draupadi is still confident about her strength that’s why she is holding her two hands against her chest.  Once she is willing to surrender to me wholly, I will be there to protect her from the clutches of Dusshasana’.  Instantly, Draupadi removed her hands from her chest and lifted her both the hands up and wept loudly calling the sacred names of Lord.  At once, the miracle was visible to everyone.  Dusshasana find it difficult to remove her clothes anymore, a heap of clothes has already been removed.  He struggled for breath, exhausted and sat on the floor covered with sweat.  The entire people in the assembly amazed to see the devotion of Draupadi and her chastity.

Jai Sriman Narayana !!
