The worship of Sudarsana Chakra on this auspicious day brings abundance of pieties includes cure from all the illnesses and salvation. Sudarsana Chakra is one of the fierce weapons of Lord Vishnu. The wheel like weapon with sharp-edged used for the decisive destruction of enemies.
Shiva puranam describes the glories of Sudarsana Chakra. The deities approached Lord Vishnu to protect them from the harassment of demons. Lord Vishnu advised them to worship Lord Shiva. Lord Vishnu arrived at Mount Kailash and begun to worship Lord Shiva with thousands of Lotus flower. In order to test the devotion of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva removed one of the Lotus flowers secretly from the bunch. Lord Vishnu realized that one of the flowers was missing which was kept for the worship of Lord Shiva. The Lotus eyed Lord Vishnu decided to offer his own eye on its place. The most compassionate Lord Shiva pleased at the utmost devotion of Lord Vishnu, appeared before Lord Vishnu and offered a boon. Lord Vishnu graciously refused to have any boons for the worship of Lord Rudra. It added admirations towards Lord Vishnu. Thus, Lord Shiva offered ‘Sudarsana Chakra’ to Lord Vishnu for the ultimate destruction of His enemies.
