The legend has the demons and deities were churning the milky ocean for the elixir of nectar, using Mount Mandhara as the center point and the King of serpent Vasuki as its rope, at one point of time Vasuki spewed the venomous poison due to the immense pressure applied on it.  The deities and demons appealed to Lord Shiva to protect the Universe from the massive disaster.  Lord Shiva gracefully swallowed the poison, eventually laid down keeping his head on the lap of Goddess Sri Parvati to get rid of the adverse effects of the poison consumed.  Goddess Sri Parvati gently pressed his throat to remain the deadly poison on the throat, without letting it enter into the abdomen of the Lord.  Hence, Lord Shiva has attained the sacred name Neelakanda.  This is the sacred land on Earth where Lord Shiva laid down after consuming the venomous poison, all the deities and Rishis and Sages arrived on this sacred land and eulogized the glories of Lord Shiva.

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Oh! Vaikundha, Lord Brahma created Jeevadheha/living beings and non-living entities like trees, animals, birds, humans and divine beings with all those grace and powers attained from you.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Brahma has created the five kinds of impurities like Midhya/ignorance, Agraha/desire, Asismathi/Ego, Raga/Attachment, Vikopa/Anger and Bhithi:/Fear.  He felt extremely liable after creating these awful Thamasic gunas, instantly immersed in meditating upon your lotus feet for self-purification.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Brahma created Sanaka, Sananda, Sanathana and Sanathkumara from his mind.  Though they were instructed to begin the function of creation by Lord Brahma, they did not follow the words of him, because they were highly devoted to you, eventually immersed in meditating upon your lotus feet.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Brahma was disappointed at the turn of events, he was suppressed the anger rose out of frustration, soon it caused the birth of Mrida who is an incarnation of you, set off from the middle of eye brows of Lord Brahma.  Mrida cried out for a name and his abode, eventually he was named after Rudra.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Rudra was provided with different forms/Vibhinnaroopam, eleven names, eleven wives and various abodes by Lord Brahma prompted by you.  Consequently, Lord Brahma requested Lord Rudra to assist him in the process of creation as well.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Rudra began the function of creation, he produced number of fierce looking Rudras in three worlds.  Lord Brahma was frightened at the creation of Rudra and requested him to put an end to his creation, prompted by you and undergo penance for the welfare of the Universe.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Brahma resumed the process of creation, he created prominent sages from his own body, and they were Sage Marichi, Sage Atri, Sage Angiras, Sage Krathu, Sage Pulaha, Sage Pulasthya, Sage Bhrigu, Sage Vashishta, Daksha and Maharishi Narada who is a passionate devotee of you.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Brahma created Dharmadeva, Kardhama and Goddess Sri Saraswathi, eventually he was enticed on her.  Consequently Sanaka ,Daksha  and others were prompted by you, enlightened Lord Brahma to discard his desire and get rid of illusion.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Brahma brought out Vedas, sacred scriptures and all branches of studies from his four face and imparted the knowledge to his sons.  Shortly, he realized that he could not continue the function of creation, so he took refuge in your lotus feet.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Oh! Govinda, Lord Brahma with the knowledge received from you, divided his body into two and assumed the form of male and female, as Manu and his wife, in this way multiplied the human race through the couple.   Oh! Maruthapuresha, we earnestly pray to eradicate all our ailments.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Kamalodbhava/Lord Brahma appeared on a full bloom lotus flower instigated from your navel, he was granted with four faces and lotus like eight beautiful eyes, he was eagerly looking around  turning his face in all directions on the vast ocean and amazed about his origin .

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Brahma was anxious to find him all alone in a huge lotus flower in the vast ocean, which was slowly drifted by waves.  Lord Brahma found the support system/stem, but he did not see you, eventually he was immersed in various thoughts about his origin.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Brahma who has great intelligence, understood that there must be some cause of his origin, he descended down through the hollow of the lotus stem using his Yogic Powers, but he could not recognize your enthralling form.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, In this way, Lord Brahma spend nearly hundred years descending down through the stem of the lotus flower, searching for his origin.  Ultimately, he returned to the lotus flower, he was desirous of your grace, seated calmly and underwent deep meditation.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Brahma underwent severe meditation for hundred years, with the supreme intellect he envisioned the magnificent form of you reclining on the great serpent, which is not possible for the human to witness.  Your enthralling form brought immense pleasure in Lord Brahma.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, We meditate upon the glorious form of you that was revealed to Lord Brahma.  Your marvelous form with the gem studded crown/Kireeda mukudam, Kadakam/bracelets and bangles, precious jwels/haram & Keyuram, shoulder ornaments, gem studded waist belt, grand yellow attire, blue lily flower garland and Kousthubha jewel around the neck.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvyaurappa, Oh! Hare, Victory to you!  Lord Brahma eulogized your glories ‘Oh! Shripathey, Oh! Consort of Lakshmi, the Vedas and scriptures praises your innumerable glories, Oh! Hare, remover of Sorrows, it was my great fortune that I have witnessed your magnificent form, I earnestly pray to make my intellect capable for the creation of the world’.  Oh! Vibho, I earnestly pray to protect us as well.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, you have blessed Lord Brahma with supreme intellect to create three worlds and advised him to follow severe austerities and devotion to you that would provide everything he had desired to achieve.  In this way, you have made Lord Brahma extremely happy.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa, Lord Brahma underwent severe austerities for hundred years and attained Thapobalam/Spiritual powers and Mathibalam/Mental powers augmented, he found the lotus flower seated him was swaying in the waves.   Oh! Vibho, Lord Brahma consumed the entire water and the air with all those powers granted by you.

Oh! Supreme Lord Guruvayurappa,  Lord Brahma created the three worlds seated on the lotus flower , immersed in the creation of various species.  Oh! Guru Maruth Puradhishwara, Oh! Ocean of mercy, We earnestly pray to protect us.
