There are five temples situated within the City of Chennai is considered as equivalent to the prominent Pancha Bhootha Kshtreams of Thiru Thillai Sri Chidambarathar Temple, Thiruvanaikkavil Sri Jambukeshwarar Temple, Thiruvannamalai Sri Arunachaleshwara Temple, Thirukachi Ekambam Thiru Ekambareshwarar Temple and Thirukalahasthi Thiru Kalahastheeswarar Temple.   These five temples located within the city of Chennai are Sri Chidambareshwarar Temple at Choolaimedu, Sri Jambukeshwarar Temple at Sembakkam, Sri Arunachaleshwarar Temple at Tondiarpet, Sri Ekambareshwarar Temple at Broadway and Sri Kalahastheeswarar Temple at Parrys. Worship of Lord Shiva in these five temples provides abundance of meritorious reward equivalent to the visit of Pancha Bhootha Kshethram.

Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple is one of the Panchabhootha Kshetram of Lord Shiva represents Fire  is located in Tondiarpet, Chennai.  It is one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiva built in 1779 A.D.

Sri Ekambareshwarar Temple is one of the Panchabhootha Kshetram of Lord Shiva represents Earth is located in Broadway, Chennai.  This is a 500 year old temple considered as the one of the most sacred Panchabhootha Kshethram equivalent to Sri Ekambareshwarar temple at Kanchipuram.
