The great epic Mahabharath was composed by Maharishi Veda Vyasa/Krishna Dwaipayana, son of Sage Parasara and Sathyavati, a woman from fishermen clan.  Mahabharath describes the legend of Bharatha Dynasty.     It was written in 18 Parva such as Adhi Parva, Sabha Parva, Vana Parva, Virada Parva, Udhyoga Parva, Bhishma Parva, Drona Parva, Karna Parva, Shalya Parva, Soupthika Parva, Stri Parva, Shanthi Parva, Anushasana Parva, Ashwamedha Parva, Ashramavasika Parva, Musala Parva, Mahaprasthanika Parva and Swargarohana Parva and each Parva has divided into many Upaparva and has chapters in detail.    Adhi Parva depicts the life of King Dushyantha and his wife Shakunthala and their son Sarvadhamanan, who was famously known as Bharatha, a righteous ruler of Bharatha Empior.

Lord Brahma created deities, Sages and Prajapathis.  It was the beginning of the growth of human race from the sixty daughters of Daksha Prajapathi.  Pururavass,  Yayathi, Puru,  Dushyantha,  Bharatha, Shanthanu were born in the family of Dithi, one of the daughters of Daksha Prajapathi.

Pandu advised Kunthi to pray for a child who has powerful physical features; a Kshtriya must have strong physique to outshine his enemy.  Kunthi prayed to Lord Vayu to beget a son with the mighty powers of Him.  Shortly, a child was born to this couple with strong arms and powerful physique.  Kunthi received the striking child in her arms with all motherly affection.  Soon, she heard of terrifying voice of tiger, Kunthi rose from the ground without thinking the presence of the child who was fast asleep on her lap.  The child landed on the ground with a sudden thud from the top of the mountain, due to the immensity of the new born the mass of rock turned into wreckage.  Pandu and Kunthi amazed at the enormous strength of their child.  Soon a mysterious voice pronounced that the child born with remarkable strength shall be known as Vrikodhar Bhima.   On the same day, Duryodhana was born to Drutharashtra and Gandhari.

Pandu and Kunthi underwent severe austerities to obtain a virtuous progeny.  Lord Indra was pleased at the dedication of the couple; eventually they attained a child with remarkable prowess and glory.  A stunning child was born to this couple followed by a mysterious voice proclaiming that the child born to them would  be equivalent to Karthavirya in energy and Lord Shiva in prowess; he will spread the glory far and wide, this child would enhance the joy to his parents as  Lord Vishnu to Aditi,  he will held high the grandeur of Kurus and their prosperity amongst other Kingdoms, he will promote the welfare of Brahmin and perform various fire sacrifices, he will gratify Sankara (Lord Shiva) in the Warfield, he will obtain the great weapon Pasupathastra from Lord Shiva, he will spread the glories of Kurus and retrieve fortunes of his clan.  The celestial Gandharvas & Apsaras, Sons of Kadru and Vinatha, Lord Brahma, Saptha Rishis all were assembled to praise the birth of Arjuna (Vibhastu), son of Pritha and Pandu.
