King Ko-Chengan Chozha was
afflicted with leprosy; in order to get rid of this illness visited many sacred
shrines of Lord Shiva. Unfortunately, the
disease remained the same; King was deeply distressed at this inexorable sickness
happened to listen to a mysterious voice instructed him to visit a shrine where
stone idol of cow eats grass ( Kalamadu Pulthingum Thalathukku Sendru
Vananginal Un Noineengum). King
Ko-Chengan visited this sacred land with a garland made of divine grass
(Arukampullu) for Lord. As he was
entering to the sanctum, the idol of Lord Nandikeshwara positioned in front of
the sanctum grabbed the grass garlands and devoured the same. Instantly, King Ko – Chengan Chozha remembered
about the divine voice of Lord and got rid of the illness. King Ko-Chengan Chozha was extremely happy
at this incident and built a magnificent temple for the worship of Lord Shiva in
this sacred land.
This temple remains open from
