Goddess Sita constructed a Linga with the raw sand was sanctified in the
auspicious hours and the rituals were carried out successfully by Lord Rama. Anjaneya was distraught at this incident, had
a wish to sanctify the Linga brought from Himalays, he tried to pull out the
Linga with his tail which was already consecrated. During this practice, Anjaneya’s tail got severed. Lord Rama advised Ajaneya to worship Lord
Shiva to get rid of the sin. Eventually,
Lord Anjaneya arrived on this sacred place and sanctified a Linga and
worshipped Lord Shiva.
