Thirunattiyathankudi is one of the 275 Thevara Shivasthalam of Lord Shiva located in Mavur, Thiruvanur District, Tamil Nadu.  This is one of the prominent temples of Lord Shiva famous for its stunning architectural and exquisite murals.

Presiding deity – Manikkavannar/Ratnapureeswarar/Nattiyathunambi with his consort Goddess Sri Mamalar Mangai/Ratnapureeswari

Mangalasasanam – Sundarar

Sundarar paid a visit to this sacred land and accepted the hospitality of Thiru Kotpulinayanar.  He fervently entered the temple of Lord Manikkavannar and Goddess Mamalarmangai and found no trace of presiding deities in the sanctum. He was distraught at this incident and enquired Lord Ganesha about the reason.  Lord Ganesha did not utter a word; instead he pointed his finger on the Eastern side of this temple.  Sundarar passionately followed the gesture of Lord Ganesha.   Sundarar walked through the agricultural lands and found Lord Shiva and Goddess Sri Parvati working on a paddy field, witnessing this divine couple immersed in the field activities Sundarar worriedly called out for them and requested to stop the work.  Instantaneously, the couple disappeared from the sight and entered in the sanctum; Sundarar followed them and passionately sung praising the glories of Lord in this temple.

Thiru Kotpulinayanar had lots of admiration towards Sundarar.  He requested Sundarar to accept his two daughters Singadi and Vanapahai as his servants, but Sundarar generously accepted them as his daughter.
