Kandha Kottam Thiru Muthukumara Swamy Temple is one of the oldest temples of Lord Subramanya located in Park Town, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

There is an interesting myth behind the origin of this temple; two zealous devotees of Lord Subramanya Thiru Mari Chetti and Thiru Kandhappa Achari were carried out a spiritual journey to worship Lord Subramanya at Thirupporur.    On their way they found too exhausted due to long walk and decided to take a break for a while.  Slowly they both were drifted to sleep, in their dream Lord Subramanya revealed his existence on the ground beneath they were settled.  Soon, they unearth the idols were sanctified and a temple was built in the year 1670.

 

 

This temple remains open from 6.00 AM to 12.30 PM in the morning and 4.00 PM to 8.30PM in the evenings.
