Kurangaduthurai is one of the 275 Thevara Shivasthalam of Lord Shiva located in
Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu. This is
one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiva famous for its brilliant architectural
works built by the Kings of Choza Dynasty.
The temple inscriptions reveal the contributions made by King Kesari
Varman, King Rajaraja Chozha I, King Rajendra Choza I, King Kulothunga Choza,
King Kochadaya Pandya and Tribuvana Chakravarthi King Vikrama Pandya. In this temple Lord Shiva worshipped in the
form of a self-manifested Linga.
