Boodhapuri/Sriperumbudur Sri Adi Kesava Perumal Temple is one of the Abhiman Kshetram of Lord Vishnu located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu.
 
 
Presiding deity – Sri Adi Kesava Perumal with his consorts Goddesses Sri Bhoodevi & Sri Devi Nachiyar / Sri Yatirajanathavalli
 
 
Theertham – Ananthasaras Theertham/Bhashyakkar Yeri
 
 
Lord Shiva’s Ganas were underwent severe curse from Lord Shiva.  In order to get rid of the curse, Ganas arrived on this sacred land and prayed to Lord Vishnu.  The compassionate Lord Vishnu instructed Serpent Ananth to create a pond ‘Ananth Saras’.  All the Ganas were took holy dip in this pond and worshipped Lord, eventually got rid of the curse and constructed a shrine for Lord Adi Kesava Perumal.  Thus, this place has got its name Boodhapuri.

Significance – This is the birth place of Udayavar Sri Ramanujar who was the founder of Vishita Advaita Philosophy lived in 12th century. Sri Ramanujar was born to a pious Brahmin Vaishnavaite couple Kesvacharya/Kesava Somayaji and Smt. Kanthimathi in the year 1017 AD on Chithirai with the birth star Thiruvadhirai.
 
 
Than Ukantha Thirumeni positioned here was the factual image of Sri Ramanuja was embraced by him and all his spiritual powers were infused into it.

The legend has that King Haritha on his hunting expedition arrived on this sacred land.  There he found a cow was chasing by a fierce tiger.  In order to save the cow, he shot an arrow on the tiger.   Eventually both the animals were died on the spot in that process.    The King was disconsolate at this; soon he could hear a heavenly voice instructed him to have a dip in the holy pond Anantha Saras situated here.  King Haritha dutifully followed the divine instruction and got rid of the sin.  
 
 
This temple remains open from 6.00AM to 12.00 PM in the morning and 4.00PM to 8.30PM in the evenings.
