Ammayar and her husband Thiru Chadaiyar were lived in Thirunavallur. This pious couple was zealous devotees of
Lord Shiva. Isai Gnani Ammayar gave birth to a genius child Thiru Sundaramurthy
Nayanar who wrote one of the famous compositions Thiru Thondathokai. The King
Narasingamunaiyar who was ruled the city expressed his desire to adopt this
godly child, the righteous couple agreed to this without any hesitation and set
an example for non-attachment towards worldly bondages. The couple continued to
live a life of an ascetic for several years. Lord was pleased at their true
devotion and dedication blessed them with salvation.
In the Tamil
month Chithirai – Chithirai is widely celebrated as Guru Puja day of Thiru Isai
Gnani Ammayar, the day she attained the Abode of Lord Shiva.
