Thiruneermalai / Thoyagiri Kshetram / Thirumangai Alwar Puram/Swayam Vyaktha Kshetram/Kandaranya Kshetram is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu located in Pallavaram, Chennai.  This is one of the oldest temples existing from the date back to Pallava Dynasty.  Temple inscriptions reveal that the Kings of Chola and Vijayanagara Emperors also have made abundance of contributions to this temple.   In this temple Lord Neervanna Perumal sited at the foot hill and Lord Raganantha, Lord Trivikrama and Lord Yoga Narasimha at the hilltop.

Pushkarani – Kshetra Pushkarani, Manikarnika Pushkarani, Shudda Pushkarani,  Ksheera Pushkarani, Karunya Pushkarani.



Vimanam – Thoyagiri Vimanam for Trivikrama Perumal, Ranga Vimanam for Sri Ranganatha, Shantha Vimanam for Lord Narasimha



Mangalasasanam – Thirumangai Alwar, Boothathalwar



Worshipped by – Sage Valmiki



Prathyaksham to – Thondaiman Chakravarthy, Sage Brighu and Sage Markandeya.  Sage Valmiki worshipped Lord Neervannan on this sacred temple and attained the dharshan of Lord Rama with Goddess Sita, Lakshmana, Bharatha, Shatrugna and Anjaneya.   A self-manifested idol of Sage Valmiki can be seen in the Sanctum Sanctorum of this temple.

The legend has that Thirumangai Alwar, one of the prominent Vaishnavaite Saint arrived at this sacred land and found the whole area was submerged in the water.  He was deeply distraught and waited at the hilltop to get the water dried up.  The most compassionate Lord gave him dharshan as Lord Ranganatha, Lord Trivikrama and Lord Yoga Narasimha at the hilltop where Alwar found his shelter.   Once the downpour was settled, he visited Lord Neervannan at the foot hill and sang praising the glories of Lord.   Thus, this land has got its name ‘Thiruneermalai’. 



This temple remains open from 7.00 AM to 12.00AM in the morning and 4.00PM to 7.30PM in the evenings.
