Thiru Moghur/Mohana Kshetram is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu located 10kms east of Madurai , Tamil Nadu.

During churning the milky ocean by deities and demons at the divine instruction of Lord Vishnu, there were several precious resources were emerged out of the ocean preceded by Halahala poison which was gracefully accepted by Lord Shiva to protect the Universe from its destruction.   Some of the precious materials appearred were Uchaisravas, Airavatham, Kamadhenu, Kalpaka Vruksham, Kausthubam (precious jewels), Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, Varuni and Lord Dhanvanthari with a pot of elixir of Immortality.   The demons were insatiable to get hold of the nectar of Immortality.  Lord Vishnu took the form of an attractive woman - Mohini and distracted the attention of demons.    Thus, this place has got its name ‘Thiru Moghur’ to venerates the incarnation of Lord Vishnu as Mohini .
