Thiruppananthal is one of the 275 Thevara
Shivasthalam situated in a village called Thiruppananthal, Mayavaram, Tamil Nadu. This is one of the oldest temples of Lord
Shiva occupies massive acres of land positioned in Mayiladuthurai also known as
Kondraivanam/Banupuram/Thenkayilai. In
this temple Lord Shiva worshipped in the form of a self manifested Linga white
in color.

The legend has that Goddess Parvati turned out a
cow at the curse of Lord Shiva. Hence she
arrived on this sacred land and worshipped Lord by pouring out her milk on the
Linga.
Worship of Lord Pasupatheeswarar and his consort
Goddess Sri Venubujambikai cures all eye
related illnesses.
This temple remains open from 6.00AM to 11.00AM
in the morning and 4.30 PM to 7.30PM in the evenings.
