Sri Vaikundhanatha Perumal Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu situated in Kanchipuram and closer to Thiruooragathan Temple.  This is one of the oldest temples built by the Pallava King Nandivarman II is an example for the marvelleous piece of temple architecture with exquisite sculptures and murals.  The majestic Rajagopuram with three levels reveals the exceptional craftsmanship; on the first level adorn the statue Lord Vishnu in sitting posture, on the second level Lord Vishnu in his reclining posture with Goddess Sridevi and Boodevi and on the third level Lord Vishnu in standing posture.

Presiding deity – Sri Vaikundhanatha Perumal/ Paramapadha Nathan with his consort Goddess Vaikundhavalli Thayar/Santhanavalli Thayar

Sannidhis – A separate shrine for Goddess Vaikundha Valli Thayar, Nammalvar, Thirumangai Alwar and Acharyas

Vimanam – Ashtanga Vimanam/Mukundha Vimanam

Pushkarani – Airammadha Theertham

Mangalasasanam – Sri Manavala Munigal, Sri Ramanujar

Festivals – Ekadashi, Chithra Pournami, Navaratri, Sankranti

The legend has that the King of Vidharbha had two children – Pallavan and Vallavan, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu’s Dwarapalakas and an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu.  They conducted an Ashwamedha Yagna at this place; Lord Vishnu pleased at the devotion of the children and blessed them.
