Sharad Purnima / Kojagari Purnima on 11th & 12th October, 2011 !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Radhey Krishna !!

Sharad Purnima falls on full moon day in the month Ashwin.  It is believed that the divine ‘Rasa Lila’ of Lord Krishna with Gopis, the sacred union of Jeevathma with Paramathma, took place on this day.   Observance of fast and following austerities on this day brings abundance of piousness.

Srimad Bhagavatham – Dasama Skandham - Sage Suka describes the celestial Rasa Lila of Lord Krishna to King Parikshit.

Samsara Sagarey Magnam Dheenam Mam Karunanidhey!
Karma Graha Griheethangam Mamudhara Bavarnnavath

Lord Krishna arrived in Vrindavan at the time of sunset; the whole Vrindavan was filled with various flowers and their fragrance.  Krishna melodiously started to play His flute.  At the vivacious heartwarming sound of flute, the entire Gopis of the village started to flee from their homes to Vrindavan in urgency.   Sage Suka continued to explain the way Gopis rushed to reach Krishna.  Though, their husbands tried to put an obstacle to their mad run, they paid least attention to it.   Some of them threw away things from their hand carelessly, some rushed out from their kitchen leaving milk on fire, some of them kept their jewel box open, some of them kept their house unlocked, some of them wore jewels half on their body sloppily and the rest where dangling on their dresses, some of them wore their jewels messily, some wore jewels mis matched, some of them applied kajol on their forehead and kumkum on their eyes at their frenzied rush.  The entire Gopis were out of control in their sprint to be with the Brahmam (Paramathma) to attain salvation.  Lord Krishna passionately looked at the Gopis gathered around Him, who were gasping for their breath.  He affectionately enquired the reason why they have rushed to the dense forest; He informed them about the dangers from the wild animals in the jungle.   He advised them to return to their homes.  Krishna gave a speech on virtues of a good wife and requested them to go back to their houses to perform their responsibilities.  He advised the Gopis that, husbands are equal to God for a married woman, taking care of one’s husband and perform duty and responsibilities towards the entire family is the virtous deed of a married woman.  He instructed them that, performance of one’s duties and responsilities towards family will definitely acquire the Grace of Lord.  The Gopis started to shed tears at the thought of leaving Him, Krishna moved passionately towards them and consoled them.  Gopis continued with tears that they have left behind their family and children to serve the Lotus feet of Krishna.  They praised the glories of Him, they moved close to him with tears and havey hearted.  The most compassionate Lord moved through them, Gopis absolutely transformed into an illusion that Lord Krishna is with them holding them closely singing and dancing to the tunes of flute.  In a sudden moment, they got out of the illusion and realized that Lord Krishna is not with them.  They started to weep and they were uncontrollable.  Gopis continued their search for beloved Krishna, they met Radha Rani on their way who was also equally in a painful state at the separation of her beloved.    They altogether started their search for Him, they euloguized the glories of Him.  They continued to pray with pain and in tears.  They sang Gopika geetham with aching heart and utmost devotion.

Lord Krishna appeared before them once again; Gopis happiness had no bounds and made them happy.  Lord Krishna declared the fact that whoever worships him and engages in his divine thoughts, lead a righteous life, Lord will be serving  His worshipper.  Gopis continued their ‘Rasa Lila’ with Lord Krishna, each Gopi had their own Lord to embrace, accompanied with the sounds of divine music instruments, singing and dancing blissfully with their beloved.  The splendid event was delightfully witnessed by all the dieities, Sages, Sidhhas, Gandharvas, Celestial dancers and singers, birds etc…The deities showered flowers on Lord and euloguized His glories.  Deities whispered to each other that the Gopis are the most fortunate ones; they had the ultimate blessings of the Lord, attained abundance of pieities which made them superior.  Gopis reached in an ecstasy, they throw themselves into Kalindhi River, swimming and splashing water on each other merrily.  They joyfully moved all the way through Vrindavan with their Lord.

Radhey Krishna !!
