Trinity of Bajana Sabradaya –Maruthanallur Sri Sadguru Swamigal, Sri Bodhendra Swamigal and Sri Sridhara Venkatesa Ayya Avargal were considered as the Mumoorthikal of Bajan Sambradaya.  Maruthanallur Sri Sadguru Swamigal alias Venkatrama Desikar was born in the year 1777 at Thiruvisanallur.  He spent his life in a village called Maruthanallur, which is 5km away from Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. Today’s Sri Radha Kalyana Padhathi/Dakshina Bajan Sambradaya was an amazing contribution of Maruthanallur Sri Saduguru Swamigal remains intact which requires no further modification at all.   He created an astounding and refined form of Bajana Sambradaya Padhathi in a way that he incorporated all the Keerthanas and Abangs from different languages of Sants and Sadgurus who where lived in that era. He travelled extensively through the lands of Bharatha Desam spreading Nama Bhakti. Throughout his mission of spreading Nama Bhakti he picked up the gem like compositions of saintly persons Kabir Das, Purandara Das, Sant Tukaram, Jyaneshwar, Tyagaraja etc… He wholeheartedly accepted Bodhendra Swamigal as his Mansika Guru who provided immense self-less service to spirituality.  Maharaja Saroboji who was ruled the city of Tanjore in the nineteenth century was one of the disciples of Maruthanallur Sri Sadguru Swamigal.

Maruthanallur Sri Sadguru Swamigal had the supreme blessings of his Guru and found the Samadhi Sthal of his Manasika Guru Sri Bodhendral Swamigal after 100 years of attaining Samadhi.  Sri Sadguru Swamigal was in search of place to construct the Samadhi Sthal for His Guru and arrived at Govinda Puram.  This village is situated on Aduthurai Highways and 6 km away from Kumbakonam.  Sri Sadguru Swamigal stumbled upon a river bank where he could listen the continuous chanting of  ‘Rama Nama’.  He realized immediately that it was the Samadhi Sthal of His Manasika Guru. Maruthanallur Sri Sadguru Swamigal approached the King who was ruling Tanjore in those years, with the help of the King a Mandapam was erected for Sri Bodhendra Swamigal.  Sri Bhagavan Nama Bodhendra Swamigal was born in Kanchipuram,  the place known as one of the seven Mokshasthal and he was the 58th pontiff of Sri Sankara Mutt.  Maruthanallur Sri Sadguru Swamigal provided an immense selfless service to mankind by establishing Bakthi cult.    He firmly believed and initiated Nama Smaran and Nama Bakthi is the only simple and easiest way to achieve ‘Salvation’ during this Kali era.  Maruthanallur Sri Sadguru Swamigal attained Moksha in the year 1817.
