Lord Balarama was the Seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu.  Lord Balarama was born on a Shravan Purnima day with the birth star 'Shravan'.

Lord Balarama was born to Vasudeva and Rohini.  Though Balarama was appeared in the womb of Devaki as seventh child, the baby was mystically transferred to the womb of Rohini who was another wife of Vasudeva.   Thus, Lord Balarama also worshipped as Lord Sankharshana.   It is believed that the mystic thing had happened in order to save the life of the new born from the monstrous clutches of Kamsa.

Lord Balarama spent his childhood days with the cowherds and his little brother Krishna.    After slaying of  Kamsa, the two brothers went to learn under the guidance of Sage Sandipani at Ujjain.   Later, Lord Balarama married to Revati, the daughter of the King of Kushastali.   In order to get the mercy of the Supreme Lord one should always worship Lord Balarama.  With the blessings of Lord Balarama, one could attain the virtues of Self-Realization which leads to God- Realization.

Srimad Bhagavatham describes Lord Balarama  as 'Anantha'.  Lord Balarama was incaration of Lord Vishnu's Nityasuri - Anantha.    As a result of the curse on the Yadu Dynasty that they themselves would be the cause for their destruction, after thirty six years of Kurukshetra War Lord Balarama left this world immdiately after Lord Krishna.
