Sri
Rama Navami falls on Shukla Paksha - Navami in the month of Chaitra/Chaitra Masa Shukla Paksha Navami. This day
is celebrated as the birth day of Lord Sri Rama - the 7th incarnation of Lord
Mahavishnu. Years later, Sri
Rama married Sita Devi on the same day of Navami.
In
some parts of India, the Sri Rama Navami celebration continues for nine days.
During these days, chanting the sacred Vedic manthras, performing sacrificial
fire, fasting , Bajans and reciting holy scriptures like Sri Ramacharita Manas,
Srimad Ramayana, Srimad Sundarakandam are also takes place. Sri Rama Navami
commemorates the birth of Lord Sri Rama and the divine marriage of Lord Sri
Rama with Sita Devi. As a part of the celebration, 'Sita Kalyana Mahostavam'
(Celestial marriage of Divya Dampathis) performs on this day.
