Sri Lalithambal Sobanam - Maharishi Valmiki !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Sri Lalithambal Sobanam describes the life of Maharishi Valmiki:

There was a Brahmin who was leading a life of  a mleccha, (barbarian)    as a result he had to take rebirth  as a hunter.  He engaged himself in snactching the money and wealth of the people who come across the forest.  Once the Saptharishis happend to go through the forest and the hunter threatend and harrassed them.  The Saptharishis in return with kindness advised him to leave this henious job and live a good life.   The hunter answered them back that he did not find any other way to save his family from the poverty.  Rishis continued that due to this atrocious act he is not only putting others life miserable, he is gaining bundle of sins.  Moreover, Rishis demanded the hunter to enquire his family whether they share the sins he has accumulating by snatching others valuable things.

The hunter returned to his family and  children enquired the same,    'Could anyone please share the burden of the sins I have accumulated through snatching others valuables?'.  All of them answered in Chorous ' What??   It is your responsibillity  to feed us as  a Head of the family.  We are not liable to share any your sins of henious activities'.  After hearing this, from his own family and children for whom he had committed sins for several years,  the deepily disappointed  hunter left them forever.   He cursed them for their selfishness.

The  totally dejected hunter  rushed back to Rishis.  He begged pardon for his monstrous acts and cried to save him.  The compassionate Rishis advised the 'Tharaka Nama' - 'Sri Rama Nama'.  Unfortunate hunter did not get the proper pronounciation of the Mantra.  The Rishis pointed at a tree and asked him to chant its name continously and He got himself relieved out of his sins.  Later, with the power of 'Tharaka Mantra' he has become the composer of one of the great epic 'Srimad Ramayana'.
