Significance of Sri Radha Kalyana Mahotsavam !! Part III !

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Sri Thotakacharayar who was the disciple of Sri Adi Sankara devoted his life to serve his Guru.  He was a dedicated follower of Sri Adi Sankara, he followed his Guru like his shadow. He visualized Sri Adi sankara as Lord Sri Ramachandra and composed the famous krithi – ‘Thotakashtakam’ – Thodaya mangalam – Jai Janaki Ramana' .  This is listed as one first song in the Dakshina Bajana Sampradaya – Sri Radha Kalyana Padhhathi.

Sri Maruthanallur Sadguru Swamigal introduced a refined form of Radha Kalyana mahostavam/ Radha Kalyana Padhathi widely known as Dakshina Bajan Sampradaya.  The following are the glimpses of it.

·         Guru Vandanam – Guru Smaranam.  Guru is the Acharaya - the one who takes us to Lord.

·         Sri Geetha Govindam –  Jayadeva Ashtapadi teaches us how passionate Lord Krishna was towards Sri Radha Rani.   Lord Krishna symbolizes Paramatman, the male form of Supreme Lord and Sri Radha Rani as Jeevathma the female form.    Jayadevar's compositions reveal the eternal truth that we all are Jeevathma (Sri Radha), in order to attain the Lotus feet of Lord one should practice perpetual devotion and faith in Him, which provides eternal bliss.

·         Kalyanam – Pravaram

·         Muthukuthal ( preparation for Divyasnanam of Lord with all the gems)

·         Goloka Vruthantham

·         Vastra Dharanam

·         Mangalya Dharanam

·         Sri Narayanatheerthar's – Sri Krishna Leela Tharangini

·         Composition of Badrachala Rama Dasar,  Kabir Das, Purandara Dasa, Sri Sadhasiva Brahmendral, Sri Tygaraja Swamigal

·         Divyanama &  Deepa Pradhakshinam

Brahma Vaivarta Puranam – Krishna Janma Kandam/ Garga Samhitha written by Sage Garga describes the celestial marriage of Lord Krishna with Sri Radha Rani.  In order to get rid of the curse Lord Brahma performed the divine marriage of Sri Radha Rani and Lord Krishna with all the rituals prescribed in the Sastras.   The celestial marriage of Lord Krishna and Radha is the revelation of Truth that the exceptional harmony of Jeevathma (Sri Radha) with  Paramathma ( Lord Krishna).  Thus, the divine communion with the Lord brings Salvation to individual soul a state of no birth and death.  The spiritual union of Paramathma with the Jeevathma is called Sri Radha Kalyanam.

Radhe Krishna,
Our family has been performing Rasha Kalyanam, Seetha Kalyanam in traditional Bhajana Sampradayam and my father Late Sri RK Murthy Bhagavathar was instrumental in inclcating Bhajana Sampradyam in all of us and many more Delhiites. We are thankful to you for highlighting the signioficance of Sri Radha Kalyanam
