Vanagiri/Keezhperumpallam is one of the prominent temples of Lord Shiva well known as Navagraha Kshetram/ Kethu temple located in Tharangampadi, Nagapattinam District, Tamil Nadu.  In this temple one of the chief amongst the planets Lord Kethu with snake hood can be seen with his consort Chithralekha.

The legend has that the deities and demons while churning the milky ocean with Mount Mandara as Churner and serpent Vasuki as rope to obtain the elixir of nectar, there were several invaluable resources were appeared including the nectar of immortality.  While serving the nectar to the deities by Lord Vishnu in the form of an attractive woman Mohini, a demon disguised in the form of deity and consumed the nectar.  Lord Vishnu enraged at the treacherous act of the demon and beheaded with the dice.  Shortly the two portion of the bodies were started to grow as the demon was consumed the nectar of immortality came to known as two planets Rahu and Kethu.  In this temple Lord Kethu can be seen worshipping Lord Naganathaswamy. 

 
Worship of Lord Kethu eradicates delays in marriages, lack of progeny etc….provides abundance of devoutness includes intelligence, fame, virtuous offspring etc..
 
This temple remains open from 6.00 AM to 12.00 PM in the morning and 4.00 PM to 7.30 PM in the evenings.
