Thiru Eechengoimalai is one of
the 275 Thevara Shivasthalam of Lord Shiva located in Thottiyam,
Thiruchirappali, Tamil Nadu. This is one
of the significant temple situated at the top of the hill, one has to cross 500
flights of steps to reach the main temple.
In this temple Lord Marakathachaleswarar worshipped in the form of a
Marakatha Linga/Emerald Linga.
Presiding deity – Thiru Marakathachaleswarar/Marakathachalar/Achaleswarar
with his consort Goddess Sri Marakathavalli Thayar
Mangalasasanam – Thiru Gnana

Tamil Poet Nakeerar sang praising
the glories of Lord Marakathachaleswarar in this temple.
Theertham – Amrutha Theertham
Significance – Sage Agastya
assumed the form of fly and worshipped Lord Shiva on the top of the hill. Hence this place has got its name
Eechengoimalai.
Goddess Sri Parvathi underwent
severe austerities and worshipped Lord Shiva on this sacred hill.
Thus, this place has the name Shivashakthimalai.

Worship of Lord Shiva at Thiru
Kadambathurai in the morning, Thiruvatpoki in the afternoon and Lord Marakathachaleswarar
at Thiru Eechengoimalai in the evening would provide abundance of
devoutness.
This temple remains open from
7.00AM to 12.00 PM in the morning and 4 .00 PM to 7.00PM in the evenings.
