Thiruchotruthurai/Saptha
Sthana Sthalam is one of the 275 Thevara Shivasthalam of Lord Shiva located in
Thiruvaiyaru, Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu.
This is one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiva located on the river
banks of Kudamuruttiyaru. In this temple
Lord Shiva worshipped in the form of a self-manifested Linga.

Panguni.
The legend has that there
was a pious couple Arularar with his wife were passionate devotee of Lord Shiva
lived in Thiruchotruthurai. Once, the entire villagers were struck with drought
and famine. The people of this village
started to leave this place searching for livelihood. The temple of Thiruchotruthurainathar
remained neglected for long time. But
Arulalar stayed behind this temple shedding tears to Lord and earnestly prayed
to show mercy on the living beings.
Suddenly, it started raining heavily and the entire area was flood with
water. Arulalar found a bowl full of
rice floating on the water and a mysterious voice followed that this Akshya
Patra would satiate the hunger of people.
This temple
remains open from 6.30 AM to 11.30 AM in the morning and 4.00 PM to 7.30PM in
the evenings.
