The legend has that the hermits of Darukavanam turned out
inconsiderate after gaining knowledge in spirituality. This saintly people
completely disregarded the supreme entity and performed fire sacrifices to
eradicate the existence of Supreme Lord. They instigated Tiger from the
sacrificial fire and prompted to fight against Lord Shiva. The most
compassionate Lord unperturbedly handled the Tiger and utilized its skin as his
attire. In this way, the hermits of Darukavanam continued their malicious acts
against Lord Shiva; they instigated Muyalakan (demon) from the fire
sacrifice. Lord Shiva elegantly tackled
the demon and danced over his body. Eventually
the hermits realized their folly and surrendered to Lord Shiva
