Nagaikaronam/Saptha Vidanga Sthalam is one of the 275 Thevara Shivasthalam of
Lord Shiva located in Nagapattinam District, Tamil Nadu. This is one of the most prominent temples of
Lord Shiva famous for its stunning architectural and craftsmanship. This temple is equally renowned as Goddess Sri Meenkashi at Madurai, Goddess Sri Kamashi at Kanchipuram, Goddess Sri Visalakhi at Varanasi and Goddess Sri Neelayathakshi at Nagai Karonam.

Life of Thiru Adhipatha Nayanar:
The
legend has that Sage Pundareeka underwent severe austerities praying to Lord
Shiva on this sacred land. Lord was
pleased at the devotion of the Sage and appeared before him. Sage Pundareeka
earnestly prayed to Lord for Salvation with his mortal body. The most compassionate Lord provided him the
boon as he was desired.
This
temple remains open from 6.00 AM to 12.00PM in the morning and 4.00PM to 8.30
PM in the evenings.
