Thirupullirukkuvenur/Thiru Vaitheeswararn Kovil/Navagraha Sthalam is one of the 275 Thevara Shivasthalam of Lord Shiva located on the river banks of Cauvery in Shirkazhi, Nagapattinam.  This is one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiva occupies massive acres of land with exquisite architectural and stunning mural works  The temple inscriptions reveal the golden era of King Vikrama Chola, Nayakas and Marathas. 

 

Presiding deity – Thiru Vaitheeswaran/Vaidyanatha Swamy with his consort Goddess Sri Thaiyal Nayaki

 

Mangalasasanam – Thirunavukkarasar, Thiru Gnana Sambandhar

Sage Kumaragurupara, Sage Ramalinga Adigalar and Sage Arunagirinathar sung praising the glories of Lord Muthukumara Swamy in this temple.

Theertham – out of 18 Theerthams Siddhamrutha Theertham is treated as highly propitious which is used for the sacred bath of Lord and it has rich herbal values.

 

Significance - This is the sacred land where Lord Subramanya attained spear as the blessings of Goddess Sri Parvati to behead the demon Soorapadman.

 

                                                                                                                                     

Festival - Thiru Karthikai, Maha Shivaratri, Punguni & Thai Bhramostavam,

 

 

Angaraka (Mars), one of the Navagraha took holy dip in the Siddhamrutha Theertham and worshipped Lord Vaidyanatha in this temple.  Lord Vaidyanatha was pleased at Angaraka and blessed.  Thus, Angaraka got rid of leprosy.  Therefore, holy dip in Siddamurtha Theertham assures physical as well as mental well-being.

 

Worship of Thiru Vaidyanathaswamy with his consort Goddess Sri Thaiyal Nayaki would provide abundance of pieties’ includes removal of evil effects from Navagraha.

 

This temple remains open from 5.30 AM to 1.00 PM in the morning and 4.00 PM to 9.00 PM in the evenings.
