Thiruthinai Nagar/Theerthana Giri is one of the 275 Thevara Shivasthalam of Lord Shiva located in Kadaloor district, Tamil Nadu.  In this temple Lord Shiva worshipped in the form of a self-manifested Linga.





Presiding deity – Thiru  Shivakozhutheeswarar with his consort Goddess Thiru Karuthadamkanni Thayar/Ilamkombanal



Mangalasasanam – Thiru Gnana Sambandhar



Sthalvruksham – Kondrai



Sannidhis – Lord Ganesha, Lord Nandikeshwara, Nalvar, Lord Subramanya, King Veerasena,  Lord Bhairava, Lord Surya, Lord Nataraja and Goddess Sivakami, Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma with five faces, Lord Chandeswar, Goshtamurtham (sculptures carved on the stonewall – Stone carving) - Lord Dakshinamurthy, Lord Brahma,  Lord Vishnu, Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesha





The legend has that there was a farmer lived in this village.  He and his chaste wife were passionate devotees of Lord Shiva.  They had the practice to serve food to a devotee of Lord on daily basis and after that they consume any meal.   One day, there was no devotee turned on their door to accept the meal.  The couple waited for hours and worriedly left to their farm field searching for a devotee of Lord; unfortunately they did not find a single devotee to feed on that day.  At once, there appeared a farmer before the couple and requested for food.  They were extremely happy and asked him to wait for some time so that they could bring the meals.  They began to hurry home, but the farmer revealed his intention not to accept meal without doing any work for them.  The couple put a halt to their rush and assigned him with the task to plough the field and sow seeds.  The farmer happily agreed and got into his work instantaneously.  Shortly, the couple returned back to their farm field with great joy.   They were stunned to see that the field was full of grown crops ready for the cultivation.  They were in an utter shock requested the farmer to be seated under the Kondrai tree and served him with food at their heart content.  The couple earnestly requested him to explain about the miracle happened.  The farmer revealed his real form to the couple.  The couple was jubilant prayed to Lord to remain on this sacred land forever.  The most compassionate Lord agreed and resided in the form of Linga on this sacred land.

This temple remains open from 6.00AM to 12.00PM in the morning and 5.00PM to 8.00PM in the evenings.
