Thiruvananthapuram/Parasurama Kshetram/Ananthapuram
is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu located in Thiruvananthapuram
District, Kerala. This is one of the
prominent temples of Lord Vishnu built during 18th century in a
Dravidiyan Architectural style with a blend of south Indian architecture and a
replica of Thiruvattaru Divya Desam.

The legend has that a Saint
Divakara/Vilvamangalam Swamigal underwent severe penance praying to Lord Vishnu
and continued to worship a Salagrama idol.
There appeared a two year old boy child; he cleverly taken away the
Salagrama idol disappeared into a hollow of a tree briskly. The Saint angrily chased the child to get
back his idol and put a sudden halt before the tree. Instantaneously, the tree split apart and
there appeared Lord Vishnu in his reclining posture as Lord Anantha Padmanabha.
The huge idol of Lord Sripadmanabha was made of
12,000 Salagrama idols and precious jewels with a heavy upper coating of herbs.
The dharshan of Lord is possible only through
the three doors positioned here. Thirumugham (Face) of Lord and Linga is
visible through the first door, Thirunabhi (Navel) of Lord along with the
Utsavamurtis Lord Padmanabha with his consorts and Sage Divakara can be seen
through the second door and Thirupadham (Feet) of the Lord and an idol of Sage Kaundinya
through the third door.
This temples remains open from 3.30AM to 12.00PM
in the morning and 5.00PM to 8.00PM in
the evenings.
