There are interesting myths attached to this temple.  During deluge, Lord Brahma lost the Chronicles of Creation and underwent severe penance on this sacred land praying to Lord Vishnu.  The most pleased Lord appeared as Sri Vaikundhanathan before Lord Brhma.

Another legend has that a thief used to donate money profusely to this temple.  Once while break-in he and his gang were caught by the king’s men.  Somehow the leader of this gang was escaped with his life.  He felt awful for the mistake he has committed and prayed to Lord Vaikundhanatha.   The king’s men met a Brahmin while their rigorous search for the leader, the Brahmin amicably convinced them that he was the leader of the Gang.  Consequently he was produced before the court, King made detailed enquiries regarding the theft.  But, the Brahmin answered composedly about the wealth that has been utilized for the righteous deeds.   At once, King realized that the Brahmin brought before him was not an ordinary human being.   Instantaneously, the Brahmin revealed his true form as Sri Vaikundhanathan.  Thus, the deity has got his name ‘Kallapiran’.

This temple remains open from 7.30 AM to 12.00PM in the morning and 5.00PM to 8.00PM in the evenings.
