Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu.

Significance - The birth place of one of the
prominent Vaishnavaite Saints Thiru Mangai Alwar.

Thirumangai Alwar was an armed robber. Once he found a newly married wealthiest
bride and bridegroom travelling through the woodlands without any guards to
protect them. Thirumangai Alwar who was
anxiously waited for an opportunity to snatch the wealth from the people who
were travels through this woods. As soon
as he found the young bride and bridegroom with all the riches on their body,
he pounced upon the bridegroom.
Instantly, Thirumangai Alwar turned out pious at the single touch of
Bridegroom who was none other Lord Vishnu.
Afterwards, Thirumangai Alwar followed a righteous life and became one
of the prominent Vaishnavaite Saints and zealous devotee of Lord.
Thirumangai Alwar wanted to marry gorgeous Kumudhavalli
Nacchiyar. But, she set before Thirumangai Alwar certain conditions to be
fulfilled. One of her conditions was Thirumangai Alwar
should provide food to 1000 Vaishnavaites in this sacred land. Thirumangai
Alwar meticulously followed the condition and won her heart.
This temple remains open from 8.00AM to 11.30 PM
in the morning and 5.30PM to 7.30PM in the evenings.
