Thirukachi Anekadhangavadha Eshwarar
Temple is one of the Thevara
Shivasthalam of Lord Shiva situated in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. In this temple
Lord Shiva worshipped in the form of a self-manifested Linga.

The
legend has that Lord Kubera was a righteous ruler with the abundance of
devoutness he had earned in his previous life became the ruler of the marvelous
city Alakapuri. Sage Shukracharya, who was the Guru of demons,
had hostility towards Lord Kubera and created lots of trouble to him. Lord
Kubera was a zealous devotee of Lord Shiva, He prayed to Lord Shiva seeking
protection from the malevolence of Shukracharya.
Another
legend has that Sage Marichi found a beautiful baby girl on a lotus while
performing ablutions. He brought up the
child and named her Vallabha. Years
passed by the baby girl grown up into a beautiful young maiden. Vallabha was a passionate devotee of Lord
Shiva. There was a demon Kesi, fallen at
her attractiveness and abducted her.
Vallabha sincerely prayed to Lord Shiva to get freed herself from the demon. Lord Shiva assigned the task to Lord Ganesha to
save Vallabha from the clutches of demon. In the meantime, Goddess Kamakshi
ensures the victory of her son with her husband; Lord Shiva advised her that
Lord Ganesha should consecrate a Linga in this sacred land and worship him. Lord Ganesha sincerely followed the verdict
of his father, sanctified a Linga and worshipped here. Consequently, Lord
Ganesha won over Kesi and released Vallabha with the blessings of Lord
Shiva.
