Sri Sailam one of the Dwadasha Jyotir Linga Kshetra is situated in Nallamala Hills of Kurnool District, Andra Pradesh. Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bramaramba temple, one of the 12 Jyotir Linga Temple is located on the southern banks of river Krishna. This sacred temple is positioned on a hill called ‘Manthara Parvatham’/ Sri Giri/Sri Sailam at an altitude of 1500 ft. above from the sea level.

The Presiding deity: Lord Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy with his consort Goddess Bramarambika.
The presiding deity Lord Shiva worshipped in the form a self-manifested Linga – Vruddheshwara Linga/Vruddha Mallikarjuna Swamy. This linga with its rough and worn-out surface due to the passage of time was worshipped by queen Chandravati. This temple also enshrines Lord Ardhanareeshwara, Pancha Lingas which was installed by the Pandava Kings, Sahasra Lingam installed by Lord Rama & Sita Devi, Lord Veerabhadra, Lord Nataraja, Lord Nandikeshwara – Sanagala Basavanna, Palliarai, Nithyakalyana Mandapam – A place where the divine couple’s Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Bramarambika Devi’s celestial marriage is performed.
Theertha Pushkarani – Mallika Kund – In this Pushkarani, River Saraswathy confluences with River Krishna which is capable to cure all the illness. Patala Ganga – River Krishna in the form of underground spring.
Mangalasasanam – Appar, Sundarar and Thiru Gnana Sambandhar sung praising the glories of Lord Mallikarjuna.

Sthalavruksham – Tri-Fruit Tree also known as Triphala Vruksham - A combination of Juvvi, Ravi and Medi plant grown together and formed as a tree. It is believed that whoever circumambulates the tree would be benefited with the virtous offsprings.
Festivals – Maha Shivaratri Brahmostavam –A seven days festival includes Ankurarpanam, Dwajarohanam, Vahana Seva, Lingodhbavakala Maharudrabhishekam, Pakalankaranam, Thiru Kalyanostavam, Ratholsavam and Dwaja Avarohanam.Ugadi celebrations for five days
Dasara celebrations for nine days, Goddess Brahmaramba worshipped as Sri Sailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandragandha, Kushmanda Durga, Skandha Matha, Karthyayini, Kalaratri, Maha Gouri and Siddhi Dhayini. The rituals include Chandi Yagnam, Rudra Yagam, Nava Durga alankaram and Vahana sevai. Goddess Bramarambha taken out for procession in her celestial vehicles such as Bringhi Vahanam, Mayura Vahanam, Ravana Vahanam, Kailasa Vahanam, Hamsa Vahanam, Shesha Vahana, Nandi Vahanam, Gaja Vahanam and Ashwa Vahanam on each days. Also conduct Kumari Puja and Suhasini Puja in the evening hours and Dhampathi Puja on Mahanavami Day.
This is one of the oldest temples existed since time immemorial. In this Dwadasha Jyotir Linga Kshetram, the devotees can perform the sacred bath to the Lingam like any other Jyotir Linga Kshetram. The rulers of Pallava Dynasty, Satavahanas, Vishnukundinas, Kakatiyas, Chalukkyas, Vijayanagara Emperors and Chatrapati Shivaji Raja Bhosle also made abundance of contributions to this temple.
The grandeur of Sri Sailam was described in many Puranas. In Padma Puranam – 20th Chapter – Uthara Khandam, The 11th chapter in Markandeya Puranam, The 6th Chapter in the Shiva Maha Puranam – Rudraksha Samhitha, Aditya Puranam, the great epic Mahabharath – Vanaparvam, the 80th chapter in Srimad Bhagavatha Puranam – Dasama Skandham. The 40th chapter in Shesha Dharmam – Harivamsam, the 64th chapter Skandha Puranam – Srisaila Kandam all those sacred scriptures describes the splendor of this temple and the glories of Lord Mallikarjuna and his consort Bramaramba. Sri Adi Sankara visited this sacred temple and composed the glories of Lord Mallikarjuna and Goddess Brahmaramba in his one of the beautiful compositions ‘Shivananda Lahari’. The legened has that Lord Rama installed ‘Sahasra Linga’ in this temple. Another legened has that Pancha Padavas during their exile from their Kingdom Hasthinapur, visited this holy land, worshipped and installed ‘Pancha Pandava Lingas’ in this temple. The majestic stone wall of this temple reveals the inscriptions from the great epic Srimad Ramayana & Mahabharath.
