In northern parts of India, Bhathru Dwithiya/ Bhai Pooja celebrated with lot of excitement on the fifth day of Diwali. This is the festival of brothers and sisters celebrate together for their long life. On this day, sisters pray for the long life and welfare of their brothers, they also offer Tilak and sweets to their brothers. According to legend, it was the day the legendary brother Lord Yama reunited with his sister River Yamuna after several years of separation. Lord Yama and River Yumuna are children of Lord Surya. As a part of the austerities, worship of River Yamuna and Lord Yama on this day takes place, brothers and sisters join together to have holy dip in the sacred river Yamuna.
