In Padma Puranam - Bhumi Kandam describes the Virtues and Sins.
The most important Virtues are Honesty, Truthfulness, Forgiveness, Kindness, Devotion to Lord, Respect to Parents , eleders and Guru, Follow of one's own Dharma (Righteousness) Willingness to take ones own responsibilities, Abstinence, Meditation, Charity of food, clothing, shelter, treating of guest with honor, kindness towards animals.
The sins are: Criticising Veda and sacred scriptures, Abandoning ones own belief and finding shelter on other, Abandoning parents and deviate from the responsibilities towards them, indisposition to give alms to a Brahmin, reading of sacred scriptures without any respect and criticise the same, exploitation of others for ones own benefit, being selfish, telling lies and back biting, being dishonest, cheating , Killing animals, reluctant to give food and water to a hungry and thirsty fellow, treating guest without any respect, Finding fault on others, acquiring land by unfair means and illicit relationship with women.
