Jai Sriman Narayana !!
As mentioned earlier, one has to travel from Haridwar to Badri nearly 352 Km to reach the city Badri. The routes are always hard and chances of landslides are high. Trecking through the pathways are really difficult.
Before proceeding to Badrinath there are number of holy shrines in Haridwar too. Haridwar is one of the Seven Holiest places of the Hindus. After churning Milky Ocean for the elixir of immortality Devas and Asuras had a conflict for the same. In order to save the elixir of immortality from the hands of demons, the celestial bird Garuda carried away the pitcher of the elixir, at that moment a part of it spilled on the holy land of Haridwar, which is known as 'Brahma Kund' and it is located in Hari Ki Pauri one of the sacred Ghat of Haridwar.
There are Pancha Tirth in the holy City of Haridwar itself. Ganga Dwara (Hari Ki Pauri) Kushwart (Ghat in Kankhal), Bilwa Tirth (Manasa Devi Temple), Neel Tirth (Chandi Devi Temple) and many pilgrim centres are located here. They are: Bhupatwala - Ram Mandir, Dhoodhadhari Barfani Temple - Lord Ram, Sit and Anjaneya, Sureshwari Devi Temple in Ranipur (Rajaji National Park), Pawan Dham, Sapta Rishi Ashram and Sapta Sarovar, Parad Shivalingam in Harihar Ashram - Kankhal (Mercury Shivalinga weighing 150 Kgs and Rudraksha Tree) etc...
Jai Sriman Narayana !!
Badrikashram is known by different names in each Yuga, just like the Somnath Kshetram - Prabhasa Kshetram near Veraval in Saurashtra on the Western Coast of Gujarat. In the Kritha Yuga the Badrikashram was known as - Mukthi Prada, in the Thretha Yuga - Yoga Sidhhi, in the Dwapara Yuga - Vishala Kshetram and in Kaliyuga it is known as Badrikashram. Lord Narayana dwells in the Badri Tree, hence the deity is called by the name 'Badri Narayanan'.
