Jai Sriman Narayana !!
Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara !!
Shiva Gitimala was composed by Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi ( 62nd Seer of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peedam), it consists of 20 enthralling verses known as Ashtapadi praising the pleasurable moments of Lord Ekamreshwarar and Goddess Sri Kamakshi.  This beautiful composition portraits the desperation, devotion and dedication, of individual soul/Jeevathma, attain union with the Supreme soul/Paramathma in order to achieve eternal bliss.  Shiva Ashtapadi/Shiva Gitimala begins with the veneration of Lord Ganesha.  The entire verses illustrate the miserable state of separation of Goddess Parvathi from Lord Shiva.  Goddess Sri Parvati underwent severe penance on the river banks of Kampa in order to unite with the Lord Shiva.  The divine couple undergoes unbearable pain of separation; Lord Shiva came down to Earth and resides under a mango tree where Goddess Sri Parvati undertakes penance was observed by faithful companion of Goddess and was duly informed.  The state of remorsefulness, desertion, guilt and the messages exchanged through the companion of Godess Sri Parvati etc.. are beautifully depicted in the Ashtapadi.  Ultimately Lord Shiva appears before Goddess Sri Parvati and apologizes profusely, after an initial harshness between the couple blissfully unites.
In this verse Sri Chandrasekharendra Yati describes the blissful union of the divine couple, Lord Shiva  whose matted hair lock is adorned with the crescent moon spoke appeasing words to Goddess Sri Parvati who was in acute desolation and pangs of separation from her consort was turned into gracious.  He held her red lotus hand with a courteous smile and took her to the creeper house for amorous sport.  He enthusiastically looked into her deep blue eyes which has the resemblance of blue lotuses, consequently drove away the pain of separation and spoke “Oh! My child! Oh! My Love,  I shall apply  scented musk on your enthralling raised bosom, the crescent moon on my matted hair lock will shine as auspicious mark on your forehead during our passionate sport,  give me the nectar from your lips while having zealous sport on the bed of flowers.    Oh! Child! Consort of Lord Shiva; remove my anguish caused out of long separation by engaging amusing conversation while listening to the chirping of cuckoos, embrace me leaving your firm bosom on my chest and leave the marks of sandal paste from the Mount Malaya on my chest, let me have the pleasures from the heap of flowers of Kalpaka tree embellished on your long beautiful plait of hair, spread the cool rays moon from your gentle smile and squash the heat derived out of the cupid flower arrows of Lord Manmatha.”   Lord Shiva approaches Goddess Sri Parvati with pleasing words, embracing her and kissing her lotus face with extreme passion, happily resides under the foot of mango tree on the river banks of Kampa.
The above verses composed by Chandrasekharendra Yati, passionate devotee of Lord Shiva would bring happiness to all.
Shivagitimala, garland of praising the glories of Lord Shiva was composed by Sri Chandrasekharendra Yati adopting the divine path of Sri Jayadeva, composer of Jayadeva Ashtapadi Gita Govindam endowed with utmost devotion and dedication to Supreme Lord.    The garland constructed may have imperfect rhyme with various flaws presenting before the lotus feet of Lord Shiva and Goddess Sri Parvati, let it give pleasure to them as a parent’s heart filled with immense joy from the unclear sounds of their child.

Lord Shiva spoke “ Oh! Parvati who has enchanting eyes resemblance to red lotus, consort of Siva, I am taking shelter in you virtuous one, get rid of your anger and hatred towards your refugee.  Remove my miseries caused by the cupid flower arrows of Lord Manmatha, look at me through the corner of your beautiful lotus eyes which releases cool rays that are extremely captivating during our passionate sport.   Your passionate touch on my body alleviate the heat, your passionate touch on my heart with a gentle smile would follow multiple cool rays of moon, when you place the strings of flowers on my matted hair locks would results my brilliance outshine Ganga surrounded by the cluster of lotuses, embellish your raised bosom with the fine pieces of jewels, you are unfathomable like river Gaga who is streaming down from the peaks of Mount Himalaya.  Oh! Parvati my life would be fruitful when you alleviate the pain of separation with a look through the corner of your eyes, shed your anger with me and it has already borne its produce. Oh! Parvati, give me the nectar from your lips which has the power to suppress the passion created by the cupid flower arrows of Lord Manmatha, cast away my innumerable offences and share your knowledge of amorous sport with me I have come in pursuit of you.  You are indifferent to me, keep your raised bosom on me and bite me with your sharp teeth while you embrace that would be a lesson for me.   The dearest daughter of Himavan, do not ignore the poor in me exhausted due to the pain of separation and utter desolation, I shall serve you all my life, and consequently all my offences would be forgiven.”

In this verse Sri Chandrashekarendra Yathi describes the pitiable state of Goddess Sri Parvati who was emaciated by the cupid flower arrows of Lord Manmatha and her desperate state of being neglected from the amorous sport of Lord Shiva.  The faithful companion of Goddess Sri Parvati was painfully separated by Goddess while her attempt to pacify.

The faithfully companion of Goddess Sri Parvati continued “ Oh! Shankari, the supreme Lord Shankara, destroyer of Tripura has intense desire to have passionate sport with you, he is enthusiastically waiting for your embrace, share your childlike anger with him.  He is immersed in the thought of your raised bosom smeared with various fragrances. Oh! Parvati remove the miseries of the Supreme Lord born out of long separation from you; gift him the nectar from your lips for a moment.  Lord Shankara desires to redecorate your face with beautiful streamers on your forehead.   The omnipresent Lord Shiva is in anticipation of you with a pleasing mind to have passionate touches of your raised bosom.  Listen to my words carefully, look at the gem studded mirror and get yourself dressed zealously with heap of flowers on your long beautiful plait of hair, embellish your enthralling hip with the girdle.  Oh! Parvati, supreme Lord Mahadeva will prostrate before you to alleviate his offence, the cool rays of moon from his matted hair locks will cover up your soft and supple body to warm up.”

The above verses of Chandrashekarendra Yathivara describing the grief of Lord Shiva and Goddess Sri Parvati due to the pangs of separation will provide happiness to the virtuous.
