He sat under the shadow of a tree for a while. At this point of time, there appeared a
cowherd with an astounding appearance.
He offered a pot of butter milk to Sambandhar to quench his thirst. The cowherd initiated conversation with
Sambandhar and Sambandhar revealed the purpose of his visit to this place. They two had quite interesting conversation
with each other; cowherd informed Sambandhanr about this temple of Lord Shiva
and insisted him to sing praising the glories of Lord. The cowherd led Thiru Gnana Sambandhar to the

for grazing. There was a cow in the herd
poured milk on a particular place in the bushes repeatedly for several
days. The cowherd witnessed the strange phenomenon
and informed the neighboring villagers.
Soon this particular place of the forest was cleared and found an
emerald Linga. The presiding deity of
this temple Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of a self-manifested emerald
Linga. This temple and its village is
surrounded by beautiful hills, thus this place has got its name
‘Thiruvidaichuram’.
